Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15 1960) is an American actress. Her name has been praised by the media and for her television performance since the 1980s. Her accolades include two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett comes from New York New York. She was born in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett relocated with her older sister St. Petersburg Florida at five years old so that they could be near their mom as she was divorced from their dad. Bassett was in high school when she was able to see James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck play Of Mice and Men and knew that her dream of being an actor had come true. When she graduated of Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980 with the Bachelor's degree in African American Studies, she continued to pursue a Master's Degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she met Courtney B. Vance a fellow actor and the two got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Degree in African-American Studies in the year 1980.
